Sundays

What’s Sunday Like at TPC?

You might be wondering what our Sunday gatherings look like at TPC. Whether you’re new to church in general, or you’re just new to our church, here’s what you can expect when you join us on Sunday.

We gather to hear the Bible
We gather to hear the Bible

We don’t get together to hear from religious gurus with all the answers or philosophers with endless questions about life. We get together to hear from God and the solid foundation of his Word to humanity, the Bible. When you join us on a Sunday, we’ll open up the Bible, hear a passage, and spend some time unpacking what it says. Come open the Bible with us!

We gather to sing

We’re convinced that good singing is missing from our world today. So when we spend time together, we want to sing songs that remind us of the deep truths of the Bible, full of life-giving grace. We don’t have time for repetitive, manipulative, or tiresome songs with no depth. We want to sing and learn songs that would fit at your wedding or your dying day. When you join us on a Sunday, we’ll sing songs throughout the service that lift up the truth of the Bible, and challenge us to trust in our mighty King Jesus. Come sing with us!

We gather as a family
We gather as a family

We believe that church is a family gathering. We don’t have one service for old people, one for the young. A family works hard to gather together and enjoy one another’s company, toddlers and grandparents. On a Sunday, our gatherings are for all ages. As one generation follows another, we look to the Christian life lived well in those who have gone before us. We look with joy to future generations as children grow up in God’s family.

Kids can be noisy, we’ve heard. And Jesus loves the noise of children gathering to know him better. Bring your kids right into the gathering with you, they are most welcome. We have a space for nursing mums and little ones who need a bit more attention, and our Kids’ Church heads out about halfway through the service.

We gather to behold Jesus
We gather to behold Jesus

We believe that all things were made by Jesus and exist for his glory — including us (Colossians 1:15–20)! Not only that, but we believe that the whole Bible is about Jesus (John 5:39). So we don’t just gather to preach through whole books of the Bible, but to preach Jesus in whole books of the Bible. We preach the good news of outrageous grace — the Gospel of Jesus Christ — from every page and paragraph of the Bible.

It might help you to know what this doesn’t look like. It means we won’t preach moralism to you. We won’t preach self-help to you. We won’t preach just-try-harder, five-tips-to-succeed, or twenty-minutes-to-a-better-marriage sermons at you. We will preach Christ and him crucified, God coming to rescue — not merely improve — humanity.

You're Invited!!

So join us! You don’t have to put on special clothes, clean up your behaviour, or learn a complicated language, you just have to turn up.
